Living With The Dead People, Indonesia
Imagine yourself sharing your room with a dead body. OMG!! It’s scary as hell. But a tribe named Toraja of Sulawesi region in Indonesia celebrate this weird custom of keeping dead bodies with them for months. These people decorate the corpse with special garments and parade around the village holding it. They believe that by keeping dead bodies along with them and celebrating their death they pay tribute and ensure good fortune for their dead family member. Its surely is a very strange and uncanny practice.
Baby Tossing, India
A new-born baby is fragile, soft, and becomes alert to even the lightest of claps. So, we take great care of them and remain alert all the time. But in Solapur village of Maharashtra, India, people follow this bizarre tradition of tossing a new-born baby from a big height. According to them, baby tossing will ensure good health, great intelligence, and bring good luck for the baby. The ritual involves throwing down the new-born babies from 50 feet high tower and people at the ground catching them safely with the help of a sheet.

La Tomatina, Spain
Well, this is one of the most famous and also, the most entertaining cultural customs in the world. Dude!! You just need to throw a tomato at each other and that to be as many as you can. Every year, on the last Wednesday of August, in Bunol’s Valencia town, Spain, La Tomatine Festival is held which is the biggest tomato fight festival in the world. The tradition goes back to the year 1945 when a group of young individuals staged a fight at the town’s main square using tomato as their weapons.
Lip Plating / Lip-Discing, Ethiopia
This tradition is really weird and heart-wrenching, but it has its justification for being practiced as it is. The lip-plating custom is performed among the Mursi, Chai, and Tirma women in Ethiopia, in which their lips are stretched to the limits by inserting clay plates in them. When a Mursi girl touches the age of 15-16 years, her lower lip is slit and when a cut heals after 3-4 months, a clay lip-plate is inserted into it. This painful lip-plating ritual is done to show the strength, valor, as well as self-esteem of tribal females.
